Your choice is simple --- work or starve. Examples of active promotions include Pay Per Click Search Engines (PPCSE's), Direct Email, Ezine Advertising, Solo Ezine Ads, Newsletter Publishing, Ezine Ad Swaps, Classified Ads, Auctions, Site Sponsorship and Banner Ads. Some people are able to utilize these methods very productively, while others are destined to drop their money into the bottomless pit of failed Internet promotions. PASSIVE PROMOTIONS Passive promotions are those promotions that can continue to provide results for you long after you have invested the work to make them available to the Internet community. Examples of passive promotions include: Link Exchanges, Articles, Ebooks, Content Exchanges and Writing Testimonials for others. Let's look at articles as a solid example of my point. You are reading an article that I have written to promote my own business. Article: Did you realize there are only three types of online promotion?... This statement may seem odd and even untrue in your mind, but I am speaking in more general terms than you might be thinking. Let me explain. The three types of promotion are Junk, in the works and Passive promotions. JUNK PROMOTIONS ARE MONEY PITS Junk promotions are those that seem to produce results, but by their very nature are really only illusionary promotions. For example, let me embark with FFA (Free For All) pages. You might find yourself subscribing to a submission program that tricks you into sold on you are submitting your links to tens of thousands search engines. According to the Open Directory website, they have only supported 1705 search engines and directories for inclusion in their database (http://dmoz.org/Computers/Internet/Searching/). I like using the DMOZ directory as an example being as how submitted links are tested by human beings with integrity, for the honesty used in site description. Search Engine Watch and other search watchers tend to show fewer than these 1705 engines, primarily because a lot of the engines provide very little value. Yes, you can submit your URL to a FFA page, but FFA’s usually only permit 100 or 1000 links on their page at any one time. So, if ten thousand people are submitting a link to an FFA page on a daily basis, then the usual life of your link is among seven minutes and 144 minutes. I suspect the legitimate number of submitters is much higher and the results are much worse. Given that few people surf FFA pages, the prospect of your submission being of any real value is practically nill! Most of the people telling you that you can submit your site to tens of thousands of search engines are truly only submitting your site to FFA pages! mistrust of the false promises. Another junk promotion method is Safe Lists. A safe list is a mailing group that is signed up to be received by people who want to submit their own ads. Now, most safe lists have thousands of subscribers who are able to submit their ads daily or weekly. The person signed up to receive the list will receive anywhere from twenty to 140+ messages a day from the list. These messages will be received by people only interested in promoting their own thing who do not have the right motivation to open, let separated read Your Advertising. As a result, thousands of messages go out daily or weekly that will never be seen by anyone but the sender of the ad. Where is the value in that? There is none. ACTIVE PROMOTIONS Active promotions are the type that require you to go out on a daily root or a weekly ideal and put out your advertisements. With intense promotions, you will either place your proclamation or you will not sell your products or services. Your paragon is simple --- work or starve. Examples of impelling promotions include Pay Per work well Search Engines (PPCSE’s), Direct Email, Ezine Advertising, Solo Ezine Ads, Newsletter Publishing, Ezine Ad Swaps, indexed Ads, Auctions, Site Sponsorship and pendant Ads. Some people are able to utilize these methods very productively, while others are destined to drop their money into the bottomless pit of failed Internet promotions. PASSIVE PROMOTIONS Passive promotions are those promotions that can continue to provide results for you long rearmost you have invested the work to make them off to the Internet community. Examples of passive promotions include: Link Exchanges, Articles, Ebooks, Content Exchanges and Writing Testimonials for others. Let’s look at articles as a solid example of my point. You are reading an first approach that I have written to promote my own business. This paper is timeless and therefore could have been written five years ago and still have been as valuable as it is today. Due to the fact that the theme is timeless, it can and will be placed in newsletters/ezines and their parasitic online archives, on websites and in ebooks for many more years to come. As a result, this work will continue to serve me well en plus the time in which I wrote it and submitted it to publishers and webmasters for public consumption and publication. This is the best example I can give you of an excellent passive promotional method. AVOID THE MONEY PITS Many try and even fewer succeed to conquer the Internet and to produce their dreams of online wealth. My hope is that you will be one of the people who conquer the challenges to the front you and to make a nice living while working online. It will take drive, determination, study plus trial and error, but you can make it work for you. Please continue to educate yourself so that you can start aside the money pits - instead, strive to find the money barrels. It can be done. I am living proof.
I have just finished counselling with a client who was depressed. She is a young mum and initially she was in a very low mood. She hadn't experienced talk therapy before but her friends were pushing her to do something about how miserable she felt. We talked about her life: the husband that loves her, her 7 month old daughter who she finds difficult to enjoy, her house, her friends and her relatives. About session three, I was wondering where the depression was coming from - her circumstances seemed good, she was healthy and she had several close relationships. Then we started to talk about when the depression had started - just after her daughter's birth. She mentioned in a 'give away comment', her mother had come to see her then for the first time in 2 years. Well apparently her mum and dad had separated when she was 13 years, had gone off with their own lovers and in the intervening 10 years, my client had seen them separately, irregularly. Then we started to unfold her memories of being left "in the family home" with her elder sisters (18 and 21 years), being expected to get herself up every day and out to school, feeding herself from whatever food was available in the kitchen, with her sisters at home only when they weren't at work or with boy-friends. Apparently some days she bunked off school and sat on a wall near the shopping precinct, watching people pass, knowing that no one cared what she did or where she went. So here was the root of her depression: my client had given up a lively job in a busy office when her baby was due, she was now stuck in her house with a new child and her husband was working long hours to support the three of them - for much of her day, no one cared what she did or where she went. My client actually broke into tears as she uttered this phrase - no one cared what she did or where she went. It has taken another six sessions to tease out all her pain and to counter the thoughts that were feeding it - what had she done to be discarded by her mum and dad, how was she going to cope with the world without her parents to love her, and how could she find someone to care about her? It was easy for my client to project these thoughts into her new daughter's life: what would prevent her from abandoning her daughter on a shopping trip, why couldn't she feel any love for her daughter or her husband, and would anyone care if she went away? Happily we have now worked through my client's difficult teenage years. She has recognised that her mum and dad were poor parents - so besotted with their own affairs that they hoped the other was doing the parenting and not realising that neither was. She knows she can make her own parenting different - she can choose to stay married to her husband, she can choose to love and cherish her child (or children, later) and in caring for her family, she can enjoy how much they care for her. A tipping point in my client's recovery was when she noticed how much joy her daughter has seeing her after an absence of a couple of minutes. Another important factor was becoming aware that her husband was always glad to see her, to hold her and to cherish her. So now the depression is lifted. I don't say that it is gone forever because I cannot tell what the future will bring to my client. However, for now, she knows how to manage and chase away those low feelings: to see how her daughter and husband love her. So now my client's first question to me 'Why am I feeling depressed?' is answered by "No one cared what you did or where you went" and we have found the antidote - 'They do now".
