Well, if you believe that, I have a bridge that I'd like to sell you. The people that I know who sell on eBay spend many hours tracking down items to sell. But who has a continuous supply of these? Along with the time invested in locating items to sell, they have to pay $1.00 to list the item (whether it sells or not). If the buyer pays through an electronic payment service like Paypal or Billpoint, then they pay an additional $0.30 plus 3% of the selling price. This stands for 'No Reserve' and means that you are actually willing to sell your item at the price you enter as the minimum bid. Next, enter a description of your item. For best results, your auction should end on a Sunday. If you don't want to actually sell your item at the minimum bid amount, then enter a 'Reserve Price'. Your item will be posted for auction. Now that your item is listed, you can login to eBay at any time and click on the 'my eBay' link to get the status of your auction. There must be a hundred ledger out there titled something like, 'How to Get Rich Selling Useless Trash on eBay'. Well, if you believe that, I have a blackjack that I’d like to sell you. The people that I know who sell on eBay spend many hours tracking down items to sell. Then they have to spend time entering block information, reviewing the status of their auctions, speech with buyers, and packaging and shipping the item. If they counted the number of hours used relative to the revenue earned, I’m sure they are working for less than minimum wage. Many people are requisition the question, 'What sells best on eBay?' The talking is antiques, collectibles, and memorabilia. If you don’t have a continuous supply of this type of material, it is difficult to make money on eBay. Lately, there has been a market for 'garage sale' type items such as used baby comfort and children's toys. But who has a continuous supply of these? Along with the time invested in locating items to sell, they have to pay $1.00 to list the item (whether it sells or not). If it sells, they pay an collateral $1.25 and 2.5% of the selling price. If the trader pays through an electronic payment service like Paypal or Billpoint, then they pay an additive $0.30 plus 3% of the selling price. Who pays the shipping charges? The seller may think that the agent is paying shipping charges. But considering the buyer considers it when evaluating the purchase, in effect, the seller pays the shipping. Why do people keep working eBay if they are not making money? The fact is that these people just love scouting out antiques, collectibles, and memorabilia, or used baby clothes and children's toys at garage sales and swap meets. They get excited around posting it on eBay and watching the bids come in. Hey, everybody needs a hobby. To sell on eBay, you have to register by providing your name, email address, and a credit card number (for paying auction fees). Then, with your user ID and password, you can log in. To list your item for auction, succeed the 'Sell' link on the 'Welcome' screen. This takes you to a very long form. The first thing you have to do is opt a variety and sub-category for your item. volition the correct category is essential. When election a label consider your target buyer. Next, enter a title for your item (45 max). Your title should consist of industriously selected keywords. Buyers use keywords to search eBay. At the end of your title, you might want to enter the letters 'NR'. This stands for 'No Reserve' and means that you are actually willing to sell your item at the price you enter as the minimum bid. Next, enter a description of your item. Fraud is a concern on all block sites, so make bidders feel at ease by giving as much information as possible. Then enter your City and State. Next enter a 'Minimum bid'. This is the lowest core you are willing to trust for the item and the step you require to make the minimum all right profit. Then set the 'Auction duration', the number of days that you want your knock down to run. For best results, your block should end on a Sunday. If you don’t want to in effect sell your item at the minimum bid amount, then enter a 'Reserve Price'. This is a price higher than the minimum bid, at which you are actually willing to sell your item. Buyers can’t see your reserve price, they only know there is a reserve on your item. Buyers don’t like reserve price auctions, so you might want to leave this entry blank. Next, you can select many optional features for your auction, such as prime product placement, double category placement, a small picture in eBay’s Picture Gallery, and so on. But these options are costly. Next, set checkboxes to select the types of payment you will accept; checks, money order, etc. Then enter any shipping, handling, insurance, and sales tax charges. Next, enter your return policy. If you don’t want to have to refund money to a buyer, enter 'No Returns'. Then set the radio bow for 'I will not validate escrow.' For an expensive item, you might tolerate an escrow. Escrow is when a third party holds the buyer’s money until he receives the item. Then, if the item is acceptable, he gives the escrow classmate permission to release the funds to you. Next, unless you want to ship overseas, set the radio button for 'Will ship to United States only'. Then select the checkbox for the shipping payment method; 'seller pays shipping', 'buyer pays attested shipping cost', or 'buyer pays fixed amount'. This is a lot of information to provide on a form. If you sell many similar items, you can set a checkbox for eBay to remember your preferences so that you don’t have to fill out the entire form each time. Next, prevail the 'Continue' button. You are then given an opportunity to review your listing and correct any errors before submitting. according to reviewing your listing, click the 'Submit' button. Your item will be posted for auction. Now that your item is listed, you can login to eBay at any time and work well on the 'my eBay' link to get the status of your auction. If your item is sold, you will be charged $1.25 plus 2.5% of the final sale price. If the final sale price is $25.00 or less, the fee is 5.0% of the final sale price. That’s the rudiments of selling on eBay. If you feel you need to pay good money for a book titled 'How to Get Rich Selling Useless Trash on eBay', then meet me on eBay, in the 'Bridges' section. ---------------------------------------------------------- Resource Box: Copyright(C)2002 Bucaro TecHelp. I have just finished counselling with a client who was depressed. She is a young mum and initially she was in a very low mood. She hadn't experienced talk therapy before but her friends were pushing her to do something about how miserable she felt. We talked about her life: the husband that loves her, her 7 month old daughter who she finds difficult to enjoy, her house, her friends and her relatives. About session three, I was wondering where the depression was coming from - her circumstances seemed good, she was healthy and she had several close relationships. Then we started to talk about when the depression had started - just after her daughter's birth. She mentioned in a 'give away comment', her mother had come to see her then for the first time in 2 years. Well apparently her mum and dad had separated when she was 13 years, had gone off with their own lovers and in the intervening 10 years, my client had seen them separately, irregularly. Then we started to unfold her memories of being left "in the family home" with her elder sisters (18 and 21 years), being expected to get herself up every day and out to school, feeding herself from whatever food was available in the kitchen, with her sisters at home only when they weren't at work or with boy-friends. Apparently some days she bunked off school and sat on a wall near the shopping precinct, watching people pass, knowing that no one cared what she did or where she went. So here was the root of her depression: my client had given up a lively job in a busy office when her baby was due, she was now stuck in her house with a new child and her husband was working long hours to support the three of them - for much of her day, no one cared what she did or where she went. My client actually broke into tears as she uttered this phrase - no one cared what she did or where she went. It has taken another six sessions to tease out all her pain and to counter the thoughts that were feeding it - what had she done to be discarded by her mum and dad, how was she going to cope with the world without her parents to love her, and how could she find someone to care about her? It was easy for my client to project these thoughts into her new daughter's life: what would prevent her from abandoning her daughter on a shopping trip, why couldn't she feel any love for her daughter or her husband, and would anyone care if she went away? Happily we have now worked through my client's difficult teenage years. She has recognised that her mum and dad were poor parents - so besotted with their own affairs that they hoped the other was doing the parenting and not realising that neither was. She knows she can make her own parenting different - she can choose to stay married to her husband, she can choose to love and cherish her child (or children, later) and in caring for her family, she can enjoy how much they care for her. A tipping point in my client's recovery was when she noticed how much joy her daughter has seeing her after an absence of a couple of minutes. Another important factor was becoming aware that her husband was always glad to see her, to hold her and to cherish her. So now the depression is lifted. I don't say that it is gone forever because I cannot tell what the future will bring to my client. However, for now, she knows how to manage and chase away those low feelings: to see how her daughter and husband love her. So now my client's first question to me 'Why am I feeling depressed?' is answered by "No one cared what you did or where you went" and we have found the antidote - 'They do now".
