I maintain that as solo-entrepreneurs, wholesale owners, and executives we all need a pat on the back. Give yourself commendation. Why? seeing we have the courage to step outside of the corporate box and start our own businesses, be our own boss and take on the head wind and responsibilities required for this adventure. In order to even contemplate that step we must have had a vision, a dream and a passion to bear it to fruition. So back yourself.

Now, we’re in business. We’ve been working our little intestine out. We are dedicated to making our dream come true. But some time has passed and we may have exhausted ourselves of ideas, that passion that once used to drive us is fading and our never ending “to do list” is overshadowing our dreams.

Do not be discouraged, we only need to refuel. Picture the never ending stair master at the gym. I know we all dread that machine, in that it seems like you just keep mounting and there is no landing. But each step is a further progression. Each step brings us to a higher level. Perhaps by reading these strategies we can replenish our passion and reinvigorate our inner drive. So let’s focus on a few ideas that I have found to be helpful.

1) Narrow Your Niche
I know that as a woman, mother, wife, housekeeper, and a chef, solo-entrepreneur and so on, I tend to think that I can handle it all. Maybe not with grace, but I can fetch up at a lot. I am a multi-tasker. We dare say that if we can do so in our personal lives, the same should be true in our professional lives. No doubt, we can manage a lot. And as solo-entrepreneurs there are a lot of hats to wear. trading owners are in advertising, marketing, accounting, and so on. But when it comes to the services we offer we should consider “narrowing our niche”.

We may be more proficient in a particular area of our practice. By honing in on our skills in that area, we are creating a competitive edge, an area of expertise. You can position yourself as a leader in your own industry. Opposed to fitting in with a thousand of professionals offering the same service, we are now exposed to clientele as specializing in a private skill. We can also silent prayer more specifically to a “target market”.

2) Partnerships and Alliances
Wouldn’t you be spoiling for that we all need support? We need confirmation that we are heading in the right direction, a resource for assistance, or an honest opinion when we need advice. That’s why it is essential to group ourselves together with a variety of individuals who are enlisted within a similar profession. It also increases our professional mere externals to clients when we can refer them to an take up with of ours who specializes in a particular area of expertise. (Hence the importance of “narrowing your niche”). There are many associations and links attendant to aid us in our endeavors. So make the connections needed and integrate yourself with a partner or an closeness and unite together with a support system. (E.g. turn into more involved with the school at
www.solo-e.com/community/ where you will connect with individuals who are issuance together to help you present yourself with the resources you need).

3) Maintaining Passion
The word passion is described as: “enthusiasm, excitement, desire for a particular activity, or devotion to a cause”. How do we maintain that enthusiastic approach? Focus on your core message. This is the innermost substance of your business. Maybe our work is a consulting firm. Why not focus on and think near how you are empowering other others to effect all that is needed of them by useful them with your services and/or your products.

Try focusing on the message that you are exposure to others and try to incorporate that in your everyday duties. For instance, the core message of my body is growth. Not only personal growth, but pursuit growth and helping other businesses grow, expand, and develop. I try to accede clients to see the quality of my concern and I enjoy the opportunity I have to help them. When they take rise more productive and increase profits, I do too! My motto is “If you grow – I grow!”

Another way to maintain your passion is to find similarities in your personal values and your business. All of us have a a certain moral code. We all have things that are of particular importance to us and if we harmonize that connection midst our work ethic and our personal ethics we will be passionate prevalent what we do. Most of us assess sincerity from our family, friends and associates; by reflecting the same sincerity to others we are highlighting its importance to us. Having synchronization with our personal and projection values will bring out in reverse passion, thus helping us to enjoy the entrepreneurial experience.

From my commitment to yours, I wish you much success and delight in your journey.

I have just finished counselling with a client who was depressed. She is a young mum and initially she was in a very low mood. She hadn't experienced talk therapy before but her friends were pushing her to do something about how miserable she felt.
We talked about her life: the husband that loves her, her 7 month old daughter who she finds difficult to enjoy, her house, her friends and her relatives. About session three, I was wondering where the depression was coming from - her circumstances seemed good, she was healthy and she had several close relationships.

Then we started to talk about when the depression had started - just after her daughter's birth. She mentioned in a 'give away comment', her mother had come to see her then for the first time in 2 years. Well apparently her mum and dad had separated when she was 13 years, had gone off with their own lovers and in the intervening 10 years, my client had seen them separately, irregularly.
Then we started to unfold her memories of being left "in the family home" with her elder sisters (18 and 21 years), being expected to get herself up every day and out to school, feeding herself from whatever food was available in the kitchen, with her sisters at home only when they weren't at work or with boy-friends.

Apparently some days she bunked off school and sat on a wall near the shopping precinct, watching people pass, knowing that no one cared what she did or where she went.
So here was the root of her depression: my client had given up a lively job in a busy office when her baby was due, she was now stuck in her house with a new child and her husband was working long hours to support the three of them - for much of her day, no one cared what she did or where she went.
My client actually broke into tears as she uttered this phrase - no one cared what she did or where she went.

It has taken another six sessions to tease out all her pain and to counter the thoughts that were feeding it - what had she done to be discarded by her mum and dad, how was she going to cope with the world without her parents to love her, and how could she find someone to care about her?
It was easy for my client to project these thoughts into her new daughter's life: what would prevent her from abandoning her daughter on a shopping trip, why couldn't she feel any love for her daughter or her husband, and would anyone care if she went away?

Happily we have now worked through my client's difficult teenage years. She has recognised that her mum and dad were poor parents - so besotted with their own affairs that they hoped the other was doing the parenting and not realising that neither was. She knows she can make her own parenting different - she can choose to stay married to her husband, she can choose to love and cherish her child (or children, later) and in caring for her family, she can enjoy how much they care for her. A tipping point in my client's recovery was when she noticed how much joy her daughter has seeing her after an absence of a couple of minutes. Another important factor was becoming aware that her husband was always glad to see her, to hold her and to cherish her.

So now the depression is lifted. I don't say that it is gone forever because I cannot tell what the future will bring to my client. However, for now, she knows how to manage and chase away those low feelings: to see how her daughter and husband love her.

So now my client's first question to me 'Why am I feeling depressed?' is answered by "No one cared what you did or where you went" and we have found the antidote - 'They do now".
